Timing is Critical
WSSI provides habitat assessments and inventories for a wide range of rare, threatened, and endangered species and communities in the Mid-Atlantic that are often a subject of concern in the Clean Water Act permitting process, NEPA processes, and other projects requiring federal and state action. Our staff have been vetted and approved to survey for individual species by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and routinely obtain the necessary permits and approvals from state and federal agencies to work with these fragile resources.
WSSI scientists and surveyors also have completed numerous submerged aquatic vegetation studies to provide data required by regulatory agencies.

The majority of these surveys are restricted by regulatory agency guidance requiring adherence to designated “search windows” associated with species activity. We work with clients early in site planning to identify and schedule any necessary assessments, avoiding costly project delays.
