WSSI is looking for an experienced Senior Project Surveyor for our Gainesville, VA office.  The ideal candidate will have 8+ years' experience of field and office surveying practices and techniques with progressively increasing responsibilities.

DUTIES

Primary responsibilities of the position include computations, staff and job coordination, Civil 3D drafting associated with survey data including boundary, record plats, legal descriptions, topographic, construction, bathymetric, wetland and stream surveys, and developing and maintaining client relationships.

Candidate must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times, the ability to problem solve and communicate effectively, and the willingness to learn and take on new tasks.

REQUIRED

  • College Diploma or Certificate/Degree or related education in surveying and/or Computer Drafting/Design

  • 8+ years of progressive surveying/drafting work experience

  • Working knowledge of modern survey methods

  • Good working knowledge AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings

  • Good working knowledge of Windows Explorer, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with respect to projects, CAD standards, etc. on a daily basis

  • Ability to meet job requirements/requests to achieve deadlines

  • Ability to allocate time appropriate to projects based on deadlines

  • Ability to work overtime regularly

  • Strong attention to details while maintaining consistent work flow

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision & resolve issues independently based on project/company standards

  • Willingness/ability to expand knowledge of CAD and design abilities through training

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

WSSI is seeking a Civil CAD Technician to provide drafting support to the Survey Department on environmental and water resources projects using AutoCAD 2018 and Civil3D 2018. Minimum one year of experience with a modern release of Civil3D required. Survey experience preferred but not required. Candidate must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times, be able to problem solve and communicate effectively, and have willingness to learn and take on new tasks. WSSI is seeking an entry level Environmental Compliance Technician to join our team in Gainesville, Virginia. Job responsibilities will include Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) inspections and reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, and coordinating with federal and state resource agencies with regard to wetlands, erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance. Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team required. Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors is highly desirable. A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental studies, wildlife biology, or related field required. Construction related experience is a plus.  Erosion and sediment control certifications are a plus, but not required (CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, or Virginia DEQ Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Training & Certifications).

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) is seeking interns for Summer 2019. Internship duties will include, but not be limited to, invasive plant control, groundwater monitoring, vegetation monitoring/transplanting, erosion control, stream enhancement/ restoration, wildlife habitat improvement, hydraulic dredging, and general maintenance of constructed wetlands. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in many in-house training courses. The applicant should have a strong interest in and knowledge of wetland ecology and possess a strong work ethic with the desire to gain experience in different aspects of environmental consulting. This internship involves a large amount of outdoor work with rigorous physical labor and may occasionally involve working long hours. Interns will be required to become Virginia Pesticide Applicator certified (involves a written test). Our internship program is an excellent opportunity to develop and improve on plant identification skills and provides the opportunity to rotate through different departments at WSSI (i.e., Environmental Services, Surveying, Archeology, etc.).
