The Maryland State Programmatic General Permit-6 (MDSPGP-6), which is used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to authorize most wetland and stream impacts in Maryland, is set to expire on September 30, 2026. While the permit will be replaced with the MDSPGP-7 effective October 1, projects currently authorized under the MDSPGP-6 are not automatically re-authorized. Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) has been working with clients to ensure they are prepared for the transition.
What if my authorized work cannot be completed before September 30?
Projects that have started construction or are under contract to begin construction prior to September 30, 2026 are automatically granted a one-year extension until September 30, 2027 to allow time to complete the impacts. For impacts that cannot be completed by September 30, 2027, you will need to apply to the Corps for re-authorization.
Projects that are not underway before the September 30 expiration will require a new application to the Corps for re-authorization under the MDSPGP-7.
