WSSI is seeking a mid-level civil/environmental or biological engineer with a passion for wetlands, streams, and water resources. Projects include floodplain studies, dam safety analysis, low impact development, stormwater retrofits, and stream restoration. Ideal candidate will have from five to eight years of experience, PE (or EIT with ability to sit for exam within one year of starting), and experience in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and TR-55. Preference will be given to candidates with Rosgen (or equivalent) stream assessment and restoration training or significant floodplain analysis/FEMA LOMC processing. While an engineering background is preferred, candidates with a background in environmental science, landscape architecture, and/or hydrology and the technical ability to perform the aforementioned tasks will also be considered. Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors is highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree required.

WSSI is looking for an experienced Senior Project Surveyor for our Gainesville, VA office.  The ideal candidate will have 8+ years' experience of field and office surveying practices and techniques with progressively increasing responsibilities.

DUTIES

Primary responsibilities of the position include computations, staff and job coordination, Civil 3D drafting associated with survey data including boundary, record plats, legal descriptions, topographic, construction, bathymetric, wetland and stream surveys, and developing and maintaining client relationships.

Candidate must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times, the ability to problem solve and communicate effectively, and the willingness to learn and take on new tasks.

REQUIRED

  • College Diploma or Certificate/Degree or related education in surveying and/or Computer Drafting/Design
  • 8+ years of progressive surveying/drafting work experience
  • Working knowledge of modern survey methods
  • Good working knowledge AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings
  • Good working knowledge of Windows Explorer, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with respect to projects, CAD standards, etc. on a daily basis
  • Ability to meet job requirements/requests to achieve deadlines
  • Ability to allocate time appropriate to projects based on deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime regularly
  • Strong attention to details while maintaining consistent work flow
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision & resolve issues independently based on project/company standards
  • Willingness/ability to expand knowledge of CAD and design abilities through training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. is seeking a mid-level survey technician (2 to 5 years of experience) to start immediately. The preferred candidate should be a college graduate with a degree or course work in surveying, environmental sciences, forestry, wildlife management, or arboriculture. ISA Certified Arborist a plus. Experience with GPS, Data Collection, and Robotics preferred. This position requires daily field work in all weather conditions - we're looking for a person who loves working outdoors! Some travel will be required for this position. On-the-job training and a 5-year apprenticeship program will help you on your way to licensure.

WSSI is seeking a part-time entry level Environmental Compliance Specialist as well as a full-time entry or mid level specialist to join our team in Southwest/Central Florida (Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Orlando vicinity). Job responsibilities will include National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspections and reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, and coordinating with federal and state resource agencies in regard to erosion and sediment control and stormwater compliance. Bachelors Degree in environmental studies, wildlife biology, or related field is required. Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team are required. Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors is highly desirable. One year of construction related monitoring/inspection is a plus.  Erosion and sediment control certifications are a plus (CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, or Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Training & Certification).

Candidates should be organized individuals and possess outstanding communication skills. Daily tasks include coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding environmental concerns associated with development. Work will concentrate on environmental permit compliance and reporting for active construction sites. Weekend, holiday work, and out-of-town travel may be required and are considered within the realm of job responsibility.
